STONEY SMILE

Meet Mr. Stone Smile Frost, our Snowman. I have been very lazy about updating my blog. I have just been preoccupied with trying to finish the latest television series I have been hooked on. Ralph and the kids made this snow man a few days after the latest winter storm that passed. I took a picture of the snowman before Ralph even finished it. Well I though it was already finished so I went inside where it was warm. Lo and behold, he took one of my hat, scarf and completed Mr. Stone Smile Frost. I totally forgot to take a picture. The kids were ecstatic about the snowman and were the ones who helped daddy dig up stones for the snowman's smile and buttons. This was the very first full size snowman Ralph has ever made since we have been living here..It was also the only snowman in our street, lol. With the rain, sleet and sunshine Mr. Frost didn't last long but the chance for the girls to bond with daddy will last for a lifetime. My kids are so lucky to have such a devoted and loving father. Maybe on the next snow storm we will have a make a girlfriend for Mr. Frost so he won't be lonely outside guarding out house.

AND IT SNOWED

Snow has finally come again and it was enough that the kids had a snow day, that means no school!!. We didn't get that much snow, probably around 3-4 inches as the weather reports said. I had to keep on checking the schools website before I went to sleep to see if there was any info. At around 5 a.m I woke up, thank goodness for Iphone I didn't have to go down to check the computer online. I was so glad to turn off the alarm on my phone when I saw that school was closed for Wednesday. I got to sleep for 2 more hours before the kids woke up. We woke up again to a blanket of white everywhere. Winter with snow is just so beautiful, clean and just so peaceful. If it was not dangerous to drive in snow and the condition I would wish for snow everyday in winter as it looks calmer. The kids had a wonderful time playing outside in the snow and stayed out as long as they could. Will be ever get as much snow as we did last year? Who knows, mother nature will just surprise us.

A SEA OF SNOW

Bbbrrrrggggghhhhhh! As you may well know Washington, Baltimore Maryland, Delaware, Pittsburgh, New Jersey and New York was hit by a big snow storm that started last Friday Feb. 5 and went on until the next day Feb 6,2010. Most schools in the Northern part had early dismissal in case the storm started early. The first snow flakes didn't start falling until around 3:30 in the afternoon and it was so small that you could barely see it. Around 4 was when it stated coming down fast but not as hard. I was so worried with hubby at work with the slippery road there is bound to be a lot of accidents.

The very next day we were all greeted by a sea of snow all around us. Our front porch was covered by about 2-5 inches of snow. Even though the storm hasn't stopped I hurriedly bundled up the kids so they could play outside.

My poor princess bruiser got buried and stuck so many times that she just wanted to be carried. She could not walk in the deep snow for fear of getting her feet stuck.

That is how deep the snow is in front of the house. It's over Kayla's knee but that didn't stop her from walking around and exploring the stark vast area covered with snow.
Amazingly a bald patch of ground was left underneath this tree beside our house. The wind and drift of snow skipped this area and left it with not even half and inch of snow. I tell you this was the only spot outside that didn't get buried with snow.

The whole family minus me of course since I am the photographer. Our dog is even present beside Kaitlyn enjoying the cool snow on his body. Like the good daddy that he is, he woke up to play with his kids even if he had to go to work a few hours after.

FAMILY FUN IN THE SNOW

Here are some pictures that we took on that big snowy day a couple of weeks ago. I forgot to upload it since it was on the other camera. Ralph was the one who took the photos seeing that i was so busy running around with a 16 month old. It had just gotten back from the big park and we decided to check out the small hill that was a couple of blocks away from the house. Kayla's friend Tamara was there with her mommy. They both had a blast! Kaitlyn even though she only had two turns down the hill she still enjoyed walking in the knee deep snow. That was a great day for us as a family.

A FUN DAY SLEDDING

What a snow!!! It did snow a lot last night and by the time we woke up our place was shrouded in blanket of white snow. This has been the most snow i have seen in two years i have been here. As soon as i got the kids eating breakfast and dressed we were off sledding to the big park with the big hill. The only bad thing about the weather was the gusty wind. Brrggghhhh! it was so cold. When we got there a lot of people were already going down the hill. It was a struggle getting on top of the hill with all the snow. I huffed and i puffed and i walked my way up to the big hill. Kaitlyn went down with Ralph and I with Kayla. It was a big and long drop but it was so fun. Kaitlyn and I were done after that one slide since it was way to cold for her and we trudged our way back to the car. I was about to cry from carrying Kaitlyn and the car looked so far away. It hurt to breathe and it was pure torture carrying how many pounds of so. We finally got in the car and after a few minutes Ralph and Kayla got in the car and left. We went to the small hill after, a couple of blocks away from our house. It was perfect and Kayla was with her friend Tamara as well. I didn't take any pictures, i was to busy taking care of Kaitlyn. All in all it was a fun family day out in the snow

SLEDDING IN A DIFFERENT WAY

We were not able to go sledding since it rained and turned the powder snow into ice. Kayla didn't have school so i got to sleep in a little bit longer. Kayla was not disappointed the we didn't go sledding as planned, i guess she forgot about it. I took Kaitlyn out front, shoveled the path walk clear of snow so it would not get to hard later on. After that i took both the girls to the back deck and just let them walk around and play. They did play a lot with Kayla trying to break of the hardened snow and cajoling her little sister into running after. They even got to play in the slide with Kayla going first to break of the ice and baby sister following. Kaitlyn just flew past by and flopped on the snow still sitting down. Finally when Daddy was finished putting air on the lawn mower tractor tire he took it out, went to the basement and took the sledding board up. Kayla was already excited when we told her that daddy will pull her behind the lawnmower around the backyard. Both girls were screaming with delight at first but after the second turn Kaitlyn had already enough and started to cry, lol. She was so tired after the escapades we did outside in the snow this morning that she took a very long nap. What we wouldn't do for our kids huh?
