AND SO IT BEGINS

I took this yesterday night at beginning of the winter storm we were going to get. This was around 10 p.m. when I let our dog Sunny out for the night. As soon as I saw the snow I knew that the kids would have no school the next day. I just stood by the door going to the backyard and just let the sight sink in. I love when it snows, it is seems so peaceful, clean and quiet. Until now I am amaze about the snow, the changing of the weather. When we woke up the kids immediately went to look out the window to check how much snow we got. A lot of screaming with oohhhs and ahhhhs and asking me when they could go out and play. Knowing me, they knew that they had to be extra behave so they can go out to play. Even though it was cold I ventured out and played with my kids.

AND IT SNOWED

Snow has finally come again and it was enough that the kids had a snow day, that means no school!!. We didn't get that much snow, probably around 3-4 inches as the weather reports said. I had to keep on checking the schools website before I went to sleep to see if there was any info. At around 5 a.m I woke up, thank goodness for Iphone I didn't have to go down to check the computer online. I was so glad to turn off the alarm on my phone when I saw that school was closed for Wednesday. I got to sleep for 2 more hours before the kids woke up. We woke up again to a blanket of white everywhere. Winter with snow is just so beautiful, clean and just so peaceful. If it was not dangerous to drive in snow and the condition I would wish for snow everyday in winter as it looks calmer. The kids had a wonderful time playing outside in the snow and stayed out as long as they could. Will be ever get as much snow as we did last year? Who knows, mother nature will just surprise us.

A SEA OF SNOW

Bbbrrrrggggghhhhhh! As you may well know Washington, Baltimore Maryland, Delaware, Pittsburgh, New Jersey and New York was hit by a big snow storm that started last Friday Feb. 5 and went on until the next day Feb 6,2010. Most schools in the Northern part had early dismissal in case the storm started early. The first snow flakes didn't start falling until around 3:30 in the afternoon and it was so small that you could barely see it. Around 4 was when it stated coming down fast but not as hard. I was so worried with hubby at work with the slippery road there is bound to be a lot of accidents.

The very next day we were all greeted by a sea of snow all around us. Our front porch was covered by about 2-5 inches of snow. Even though the storm hasn't stopped I hurriedly bundled up the kids so they could play outside.

My poor princess bruiser got buried and stuck so many times that she just wanted to be carried. She could not walk in the deep snow for fear of getting her feet stuck.

That is how deep the snow is in front of the house. It's over Kayla's knee but that didn't stop her from walking around and exploring the stark vast area covered with snow.
Amazingly a bald patch of ground was left underneath this tree beside our house. The wind and drift of snow skipped this area and left it with not even half and inch of snow. I tell you this was the only spot outside that didn't get buried with snow.

The whole family minus me of course since I am the photographer. Our dog is even present beside Kaitlyn enjoying the cool snow on his body. Like the good daddy that he is, he woke up to play with his kids even if he had to go to work a few hours after.

FIRST SNOW OF THE SEASON

Saturday we got our first ever snow for this Winter season. It rained the whole day and by afternoon it started to snow. It was still a mix of snow and rain so the snow didn't really get a chance to stick to the ground. Kaitlyn was so excited to see the snow and wanted so bad to get out. Even if it was freezing cold I had to oblige when she gave me one of her goofy smile and said " I'm a go out mama, peeeessss?". She was in her nightgown so I just put her jacket on and threw her blanket over her legs and we went outside. We just stood by the porch and watched the snow while it was falling. After a long nap we woke up to our front yard and back covered in snow, it was still falling. But I knew that It was going to stop soon. I'm excited for my kids but I am so miserable for me. Luckily I have a very long warm coat to keep me warm when I walk and pick up Kayla at the bus stop. Its getting colder and colder and according to the farmers almanac this is going to be the coldest winter yet in 10 years for my place.

FAMILY FUN IN THE SNOW

Here are some pictures that we took on that big snowy day a couple of weeks ago. I forgot to upload it since it was on the other camera. Ralph was the one who took the photos seeing that i was so busy running around with a 16 month old. It had just gotten back from the big park and we decided to check out the small hill that was a couple of blocks away from the house. Kayla's friend Tamara was there with her mommy. They both had a blast! Kaitlyn even though she only had two turns down the hill she still enjoyed walking in the knee deep snow. That was a great day for us as a family.

GOING SLEDDING

Yahoo we might going sledding tomorrow. Ralph was so excited when he found out that we may be getting about 1-3" of snow. Its suppose to snow tonight as well as tomorrow. He said that if it does snow tonight and we get enough snow we will be out first thing in the morning to take the girls out sledding. I had to make sure that Kayla and Kaitlyn both had snow pants for the outing tomorrow. Ralph then looked at me and asked if i was for a fun snow play. To be honest, i don't know if ill stay out long with them and play in the snow. I'm very excited for Kaitlyn though since this will be her first time ever to have fun in the snow with her daddy and big sister. I wonder how she will react to the feel of the snow on her handS and face and how long she will stay out in the cold,lol....

My FIRST SNOW

Having come from a tropical country i was excited about my first winter experience. I got here December of 2006. It was already getting cold but Ralph told me we were going to have a mild winter. I could not wait for snow and constantly ask him when will it snow. It was around January that i saw the first fall of snow for that year. We were in the family room and i was giving Ralph a foot massage when i looked out the glass door leading to the backyard. I saw white stuff falling from the sky. I was so excited but hesitant. I have never seen snow before so i asked Ralph " hun, what is that?" and he replied that's snow. I jumped up and down and was so excited like a child. I hurriedly put on my jacket so i could go outside and took some pictures. It didn't last that long but it was enough to satisfy my curiosity about the snow. Ralph was laughing coz he saw how excited i was. My first snow experience was exciting and fun.

IT SNOWED

Yup, winter has arrived in our city. We just got our first taste of snow for this winter season. The weather just got down right cold and freezing. I thought it was just going to be a typical cold day and we didn't expect snow this afternoon but we did expect snow last night. We got the flurry of snow at past 4 p.m. this afternoon. The 2 kids, me and MIL were all in the kitchen and Kayla was eating when i got a call from Ralph. He said it was snowing and i just about screamed with excitement, not for me but for my other girl Kayla.. I immediately went to the window next to her and peaked outside. And sure it snow and it was falling heavily and there were big snow flakes,hehehe..Kayla was so happy and so excited and kept asking to go out. The little one was oblivious to what was happening and didn't care. It snowed steadily for about 10 min then it stopped. It was enough to coat the ground and it looked like someone threw a flimsy white garment on the backyard. Kayla went outside for a little bit to play with what little snow that got accumulated on the porch. Well, i guess that's it for today. I got to really bundle up now and stay warm!!!!!
