FEARLESS FASHION

I miss going to the mall. Malling is one of the few things that I consider my alone time even if I'm not really alone. Its been 2 weeks since I have been to the mall. By no means am I what you consider shopaholic. I am more of the window shopper, browsing through racks and racks of clothing and just admiring things. The last time I was at the mall a lot of small stores or boutiques had a lot of urban clothing on display. Most young generations a fearless when it comes to fashion sense. They wear what they want to wear and still look fashionable. Growing up I always wanted to join in the band wagon on what was in fashion but we couldn't afford it. Not being able to afford clothes that were in fashion didn't stop me from looking presentable. Brands don't matter to me, I wear what feels good and look good on me. I am very curios to see what my girls fashion sense are going to be like in the coming years. I can already see a fearless fashionista in my youngest daughter. But we shall see, the oldest will be hitting puberty in less than 5 years. Will things change drastically? Only time will tell.

SWITCHING CLOTHES

I can't believe that winter is already over and Spring is well on its way. I should know, I am currently suffering from Spring allergy. All I do is sneeze, blow my nose and itch my eyes. Due to my spring allergy I have postponed doing my spring cleaning. I am looking forward to switching the kids wardrobe from winter to Spring/Summer. With the weather being so nice and warm my youngest has even started wearing short sleeved shirts and shorts. Our oldest is currently on Spring Break with her mom in Maryland. We have yet to go clothes shopping for her. She is growing like a weed. With my kids so active they will be out more and more playing in the backyard, that means we will have to buy Kayla lots of t shirts, and shorts. Kaitlyn got all her sister's hand me downs so she is good to go for Spring/Summer clothes. As for me, I also need to weed out clothes that no longer fit me. Hopefully my Spring allergy won't be as bad as it was last year. If not, I'll have to rely on medication to help me with the symptoms.

ITS A CINCH

Every time I come across movies or books about Victorian Era I always think elegance at its finest. The big ball gowns, the beautiful coifs of the women and of course the small waist courtesy of the corsets that most women had to wear. I remember reading an article about Nicole Kidman broke a rib wearing a corset for her movie Moulin Rouge. I would love to get my hands on a genuine corset that could cut inches off my waist line. I thought Corsets were long gone with the new girdles and spanx out in the market but the demand for it is still strong. A lot of dresses, blouses, shirts and costumes have taken its inspiration from the corset. Personally I don't think I would last wearing one but I would love to try it. Maybe I will try to find a dress that has a corset design around the waist for an upcoming wedding I am attending. Maybe this time I will look like I have an hour glass figure with a small waist, lol.

BEHIND THE GIFT LIES THE THOUGHT

It finally arrived! My balikbayan box finally arrived after so many calls to Manila..I am just happy that it arrived and nothing was damaged or broken. Seeing my mom so happy made my day. Just in time for our trip going to Ormoc I still got to bring my small presents to my grandparent and see the joy in their eyes. I brought a lot of gifts for my female relatives but very few for my male relatives. I should have thought of getting a few urban clothes for my cousins. Lucky for me I only have 3 male cousins on my maternal side and I got them all a shirt. Next time I will have to plan what to bring ahead of time and really list it down and tag who it belongs to. It matters not the value of the material thing you gave but the thought behind it.I wish I could give them more but they also understand that I am just a simple housewife with very little income. Every smile and thank you wiped away the stress I felt when thinking about what to get them. I am so glad I came home with something for them. It may not have been much but it came from the heart, the thought was there.

WHAT TO BUY AND WHAT TO GIVE

Coming home to Cebu has been very stressful on me mentally, physically, emotionally and financially. Planning on what gifts to buy and what clothes to bring is so stressful. You have to write down each and everyone of your relatives so you wont forget to buy them something. The other hassle is thinking about the right thing to get for them specially the men. With the women I have no problems, I just buy a bunch of Victoria Secret stuff and give them out. The men on the other hand are more of a problem on what to get them. I bought some shirts for the male relatives but I got a headache thinking about the sizes and if it will fit or not. I was so tempted to just buy wholesale clothes to bring back home. I just hope that my relatives won't be disappointed with what I will be giving them. The important thing is it came from the heart and i thought of them. As the saying goes " It's the thought that counts ".

SUPER SWEET 16

Who watches My Super Sweet 16 on MTV? I just finished watching the episode where Lil' Mama was coming out for her 16th birthday. I have never heard of her though maybe coz I am an old fart already? But anyway she is apparently a singer or rapper. The theme of her party was about coming out of a Princess. She wanted it big but most of all she wanted to celebrate it with her family. She wanted to make sure that her family looked gorgeous and nice for her big day so she got tuxedo for the male members of her family. I think it was cream or off white but the guys did look elegant and sophisticated. Of course every one looked great on the big day specially the birthday girl. I really don't approve of this show and how this young men and women and partying like crazy and getting cars like it was nothing. A part of me is sorry that this kids are growing up spoiled by the parents. I just hope this kids grow up to be successful persons not just spoiled brats.

THE RIGHT FIT

Spring is finally here and I am just giddy and happy as can be. I can wear jean more now since the weather is not that cold. I usually wear sweats in the winter time keeps my legs warmer. Only a couple of my jeans fit me perfectly. Finding jeans that is not to long and won't show my butt crack is hard to find. Having a big butt makes it hard for me to wear low rise or hipster kind of jeans. I could wear them but when it comes to bending down forget it,lol...The kind of jeans I wear are the boot leg style jeans. However I am liking the new skinny jeans that I got from a friend. Maybe I should try browsing through Joe's jeans and see what kinds of style they have. Durability and the fitting is important to me since I'm the kind of person that will keep wearing the same thing over and over again if I love it. Hopefully my diet and exercise will pay off so I can wear some of my old jeans, lol

CHEERS TO SEARS ON HUGE SAVINGS

I'm so excited that finally winter is at an end and spring is just beginning. You can tell that it is really spring, the birds are twitter patting and seedlings are getting ready to bloom. One of the few things I dread about spring time is my allergies. Last year was horrible, I had the sneeze all the time, my nose was all stuffy and runny and my eyes were so itchy and puffy. I had to take some allergy medication so I could at least breathe without having my mouth open all the time. My two girls Kayla and Kaitlyn are just like the energizer bunny, raring to go. Afternoons will no longer be spent cooped up inside the house but outside in the backyard. And since spring is here Sears is offering a big discount on all original priced Fall and Winter Apparels. They are offering a 75%-80% discount on selected items from petites, infant wear, toddlers, men , women, and many more. That is a huge savings for us,specially now that we are in a recession. Did you see there collection of cute dresses? I'm so fed up wearing sweats and looking frumpy. Its time for me to dress up and entice my husband once again. As fashion designers would say a little black dress goes a long way and is a must have for every woman's closet. If you want huge savings on your families outfit head on out to Sears, promotion ends on April 18.
