READY OR NOT

The much awaited ELECTION of the century is going to happen tomorrow. The polling place I'm sure will be jam packed with people of all ages, race, religion and sexes. I hope MIL will be up and about and out the door early in the morning to line up to vote. I'm kind of worried about her going as there might be long lines and long wait. She had both knee surgery last year and i told her to bring her walker that has a seat with her tomorrow so if she gets tired she can sit on it. Ill be watching the news and robbing the kids of there show tomorrow... To all the voters out there, please be prepared, safe and choose wisely. Go out and vote!!!

GOOD LUCK!

HELPING HAND

As a parent, i have always heard about Autism and it is generally common among kids and can also affect adults. About 1 out of 150 children is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by the age of 5 years old or even younger. Autism is a brain development disorder that is characterized by impaired social interaction and communication, and restricted and repetitive behavior. Parents with autistic child/children usually don't know what to expect and are more times overwhelmed with lack of information and lack of support from families and friends. The Autism Support Network is a group of individuals from parents, grandparents, doctors and many more who converge in this one network to help and lend more understanding, support and knowledge about Autism. Who else can help and know you better and what your family is going through than people who have dedicated their lives to help find more ways on how children can overcome and be more productive individuals? Parents don't have to feel hopeless, afraid and uncertain, one can certainly find a lot of help for Autism, you just have to know where to look and a helping hand will certainly be extended out to your family.

EAT YOUR HEARTS OUT!!

Whats for breakfast? Get a good look and I'm sure most Filipino bloggers will be able to guess what i had for breakfast. I didn't buy this but made it myself. All i do is freeze them or refrigerate and steam when I'm in the mood for it. I know, i know i should eat healthier but i just couldn't resist my steamed buns(siopao) paired with ice cold coca cola. Can you see? Its still steaming hot...yum yum yummy!!!

AS SHE TURNS A YEAR OLD

My first born is one year old and i feel like i have been cheated. Time has robbed me of my memories of her when she was just an infant. My brain has been foggy, it just cleared when Kaitlyn was 6 months old. Where did the time go?Did it just flew by me? Or i was to wrapped up with the thought of trying to be a good mother to both kids. All i know is that she is growing up very very fast
.

Kaitlyn was in her element yesterday and was having such a blast with her uncle Angelo. It didn't happen right away though, when they first arrived she was like an octopus. Arms and legs wrapped around my neck and my body so tight like she wanted to crawl inside of me and hide, lol. It took her about a good 2-30 minutes before she actually warmed up to her uncle Angelo. After that forget it she was all over him. Wasn't able to take a good picture of her with her birthday dress that we got at Walmart for $16 and the little patent black shoes for $9. She looked so cute and so girlie, lol. Here are just a few of the pictures taken yesterday.

We didn't get to take a picture of her blowing out her cake wearing her birthday dress, i changed her too early as i know she would want to eat a piece of her cake as soon as they were down blowing out the candles. Oh well! The important thing is she had fun and got what she wanted, a piece of cake!

yummy! at last i got to eat another birthday cake again!!!

BIRTHDAY TOGETHER!!!

It's there FIRST BIRTHDAY TOGETHER AS FATHER AND DAUGHTER.It was a year ago that i gave birth and officially became a mama. The hours, days, weeks, months pass so fast like winged birds. Now a year will come to pass, a milestone for each one, specially my first born. This year we will be able to celebrate Daddy's birthday properly as last year we couldn't do it since you,Kaitlyn Hope was born on his birthday. How happy we were to find out that my due date was on Oct 22 and you were right on time. I was scheduled for an Induction on that day Oct22,2007 Monday but you were already raring to come out,i was already in labor the whole day of Sunday but it started to get intense early morning of Monday the day you were born. I was woken up from sleep with such an intense pain that it took my breath away,i knew in my heart you were coming. Got to the hospital at 4 am, we were suppose to be there by 6 am for the induction well, we had an early start,lol.. Still even when i was in labor they gave me the pitocin as scheduled. The pain of labor was intolerable,i felt like i was being ripped apart and wondered if i could survive. I wanted to cry when i called your grandma (my mom) to let her know we were at the hospital already. I wanted her hugs and kisses, her comfort and her soothing words. I had to control myself from crying,i had to be strong and brave. The epidural was a blessing,it stopped the pain but not entirely,i still felt pressure and something like someone was squeezing my stomach. It was bearable though, you were born at exactly 3:12 pm. I cried for now reason other than joy, relief and love. You were a little person inside of me.

The very first thing i said to you was " LANGGA ANAK" (BELOVED CHILD)Daddy cut the cord that tied you and me together for 9 months. Daddy cried with happiness. You are the best birthday present he ever got!!!

Daddy, we love you so much. You have given me the most precious of all, a daughter. As you turn 39 you have become more gorgeous and hunky in my eyes. Dont change because I LOVE YOU JUST THE WAY YOU ARE!!

KAITLYN HOPE
My first born. You are the love of my life, you bring joy to everyone around you. Time has changed you from an infant and now your my little person. You walk like you own the very space you walk on. You light up my day everytime you hug me and kiss me. I cant fully express how much i love you, i just know in my heart you are there and will always be. Dont grow up to fast. You are my BELOVED CHILD *LANGGA*
HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY

MONO DESEASE/ KISSING DISEASE

Last month we found out that one of Ralph's niece is sick. She has this disease called mono. This was my first time ever hearing about that disease.I looked it up on the net and this is what i found out about it:

Mono or Mononucleosis
is a an infectious disease caused by Epstein-Barr virus . Mono or "the kissing disease" can easily be spread through saliva,by sharing drinks food and utensils. Common among teens from 15-35 yrs of age

Signs of Mono
These are just the common sign : fever, headaches, sore throat, white patches on the back of your throat, fatigue, depression and not wanting to eat.

Treatment
Drinking plenty of liquids and juice rich in vitamin c.
plenty of rest
lozenges for sore throat or gargling with warm salt water

As far as i have read Mono or the Kissing disease is not a life threatening one as long as the person infected by the disease takes plenty of rest and drinks lots of liquid. I must admit i haven't really gone onto an in dept research about Mono but i was just curious about the disease as it was my first time to hear about it. Ill do more readings and research about this and ill update on what i have learned.

CRIB PROTECT

Keeping our kids safe and out of harm is every parents priority. We take extra care not to let even the smallest of bugs to get on our kids skin, clothes, toys and specially crib or bed. It would be a nightmare waking up with your child's scream that something stung them and even more terrifying if its from a bark scorpion. The most common and potentially deadly to our kids, they are small about 1 1/2 -2 inches in size, the only scorpion that can climb and packs a punch of venom worse for children. The scorpion sting can cause frothing at the mouth, difficulty breathing leading to respiratory paralysis, numbing, muscle twitching and convulsion.

Its a good thing there is a way to prevent this scorpion sting from happening, scorpion prevention was invented by the tireless efforts of two Tucson, Arizona Entrepreneur Mothers. Through research they have found out that the only material scorpions are not able to crawl is glass, hence the birth of the CLEAN GLASS SCORPION CONTAINERS . Installation of the scorpion safe is as easy as 1-2-3, fits most bed and crib legs. Don't take the risk of having to wake up with your children's cry at night. Take the stand and protect your family.

SKID PROOF YOUR CHILD'S SOCKS

This post is regards to my other post "elephant slippers". I got a lot of mother advising me to let Kaitlyn wear a skip proof socks and one mother even suggested that i make my own by putting puff paint on the bottom of my daughters socks, thanks Kate, you gave me the right push. Well i did thought about that since I'm usually a resourceful person and when your a mother you have to be and yes, we did get her some skid proof socks but they are to big, lol. She is in shorter and petite side of the height meter. Since she already had some regular sock i decided to make my own. Lets get back to making this work.

Things that you will need
  • pair of socks
  • tulip xtreme paint
  • cut out small cardboard or piece of hard paper
HERE'S HOW I DID IT
  • Make sure the socks are clean, and on the right side.
  • puff paint,tulip xtreme paint
  • Cut a small rectangular shape of cardboard or hard paper just enough to fit in the socks.
  • Place cut rectangular shape in socks and turn it bottom socks up
  • Start putting on the xtreme paint. You can design it anyway you want. I rather prefer the small dots.
  • Let it dry for at least 6 hrs.
  • Its ready to be used
  • dont wash for at least 48 hrs so the paint will get a chance to stick, wash inside out.
  • Im not expert at these but it did work for Kayla and Kaitlyn so thats good enough for me.

MAY NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE BUT IM OPEN TO MORE SUGGESTIONS AND TIPS SO LEAVE ME A COMMENT.

THE VACINNE I GOT

I needed my Td - TETANUS, DIPHTHERIA shots. Went to my primary physician and i was informed that its the new one. Its now Tdap- TETANUS, DIPHTHERIA, PERTUSSIS. The Tdap shot can protect you from this 3 diseases :
  • Tetanus (lockjaw) - causes painful tightening of the muscles. Tetanus leads up to death in up to 2/10 ratio.
  • Diphtheria - causes a thick covering in the back of the throat. Can lead to breathing problems, paralysis, heart failure and even death.
  • Pertussis (whooping cough) - causes severe coughing spells, vomiting, and disturbed sleep. Can lead to weight loss, incontinence, rib fractures and passing out from violent coughing, pneumonia.
I'm sure glad i got mine done, wouldn't want to get those diseases. It sure was easy to get one but was hard on my body . The shot didn't hurt at all,not at all but once the medication was inside of me that's when it started to bother me. This is are just common effects of the shot.

  • Pain
  • Redness or swelling
  • Mild fever of at least 100.4
  • Headaches
  • Tiredness
  • Nausea, Vomiting,diarrhea, stomach ache
  • chills, body aches, sore joints, rash and swollen lymph glands.

PRISON BREAK

My daughter was caught in the act of breaking out from her little prison,lol... I was busy cleaning yesterday and i decided to put her in the playroom for just 5 min. so i can finish up the bathroom without any disturbance. Little did i know an escape artist was lurking in her. I thought i was finally going to have some uninterrupted duet with the toilet when i heard the pitter patter of little feet. Thinking it was the cat, i listened again then i heard her in the kitchen which is just beside the bathroom. She got out, i wondered how she got out. I found my camera and had it ready and put her back in the playroom with the temporary gates. I waited and then i caught her. She is crying knowing that she got caught,lol... Video is a little dark but here is the evidence:

MAMA'S SLIPPERS

Just now as i was busy dropping ec my 11 month old daughter woke up. I went to get her in her room and took her in the computer room so i could continue with my ec dropping. As i was sitting here,i just left her in the room to walk around and play with her toys. suddenly i felt this nudge on my side. It was my daughter giving me my slippers,lol.. She left and returned again with the other one this time saying mama. My baby girl is so smart! She knew it was mine and thought that i might need it..Now,she just made my day!

And she did this not once but twice. Took a photo the second time she did it.

HEALTHY AS A HORSE

I got my yearly physical exams today. The verdict "I'M AS HEALTHY AS A HORSE!" Also got my shots and had a TB skin test done. I will have to go back on Monday for them to read it. And also ill be getting my cholesterol test done, which mother in law so wants to know coz of my eating habits. She wants to know if i have a high cholesterol since i eat a lot of greasy food and i eat chicken skin, fats and such.

I also went to get my record for my HIV and RPR or RPN at my OBGYN. One of the nurse came out and talked to me and asked how my baby was. I wanted the baby to go in but she fell asleep in the car so i left her with husband. Ill be returning there anyway next month for my pop smear.

Before we got those done we had to go to walmart for some winter clothes shopping for Kayla. The girl grows out of her clothes like nothing. We got a whole bunch of clothes for her and she liked each and everyone we got for her. I also got a few stuff like matching sweatpants and long sleeved shirt. Baby got a few to even though we already went clothes shopping for her earlier.

So now,I'm arm is just hurting from the tetanus and diptheria shot and I'm pooped. I'm signing off for now..

ELEPHANT SLIPPERS

This was Kaitlyn earlier this morning:

. She took her first few steps at exactly 10 months. Monday she turned 11 months and now she is walking like a pro however, she doesn't like wearing shoes or anything on her feet. Its already autumn and with that comes cold weather. As you can see our floor is not carpeted so that means cold floors and cold feet. To avoid cold feet i bought her this elephant slippers at Walmart for $5 . It was just so cute and mama couldn't resist herself,lol..

When we went downstairs i put her slippers on,she wanted it off. I put her on the floor but she would not budge or even move an inch. She was afraid not of the slippers but of falling. Getting use to wearing something on your feet takes time. I had to let her hold on to my finger so she would feel secure and walk with her slippers on. I couldn't resist snapping pictures so that means letting go of her while doing it. She cried so much and was so upset with me for letting her go,but that got her walking by herself. Soon after she realized that she could walk in it and she wouldn't slip or fall.

The first few steps are always the hard part but after getting over that hurdle she was walking around the house and loving it.The important thing is, it kept her little footsies toasty warm!
